LOCKPORT – The 23rd annual Riverfest begins at 5 p.m. Thursday and runs through the 10 p.m. fireworks Saturday and the weatherman promises outstanding weather all three days.

The site is the Lockport Boat Launch Park along the Susquehanna River and highlights will include the annual Lynne Ramm Memorial Cardboard Boat Race Saturday at 1 p.m. and race organizers expect a large turnout of crafts, seaworthiness to be determined. Saturday will also see the Duck Derby with a $1,000 first price.

The Riverfest will again feature three nights of music, plus food and arts and crafts all three days. The annual fundraiser for Woodward Township recreation and the Dunnstown Fire Company starts at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with an earlier start on Saturday.

Due to the reported high bacteria count in the river this summer, township officials were doing additional water sampling to make sure the water is safe for cardboard boat race participants. As of Thursday, the event was still on schedule for Saturday.
