Baker Named CM Lady Wildcat Hoop Coach; Bruno New Bucktail Boys Coach
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – There will be a change in the leadership in two Keystone Central School District basketball programs effective with the 2018-19 season.
All district coaching positions had been opened after last season and the school board Thursday night, among a large number of returning hires, approved new head coaches at two district schools.
Longtime Central Mountain boys basketball coach Scott Baker will return next season to direct the girls program. He led the boys program to a 17-9 record and the school’s first-ever District 6 championship in his last season, 2016-17, then stepped down.
Baker took the last season off from coaching but was involved in off-season activities with prospective team members, including his daughter Avery who will be a tenth-grader in the new school year. The Lady Wildcats did not win a game last season. Baker will replace Terrence Greene.
Former Renovo High School basketball standout Gene Bruno will direct the Bucktail High School boys program next winter. Bruno had been a successful coach at Penn College and later at Milton High School. He retired as a teacher and coach at Milton after the last season and maintains homes in both Renovo and Milton. He replaces Dave Pentz at Bucktail. The Bucks went 6-16 last season.
