BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Pairings have been finalized for three local high school ball teams, all set to play in their district tourneys beginning Tuesday, May 22.
First up will be the Bucktail Lady Bucks (8-9), scheduled to play a District 4 Class A quarterfinal Tuesday, May 22, at Montgomery (11-6). Bucktail is a No. 6 seed, Montgomery a No. 3 seed. Game time will be 4:30 p.m. Montgomery defeated the Lady Bucks twice during the regular season in two close contests, 3-1 and 7-6. This will be Bucktail’s second straight season in the postseason after previously having never qualified.
Wednesday, May 23, will see the Central Mountain softball team (13-5) defend its District 6/9 Class 5A title against DuBois (13-7). The game will be played at St. Francis University in Loretto at 2:30 p.m. The Lady Wildcats defeated DuBois, 11-7, in a regular season meeting on April 28. DuBois advanced to the Wednesday title game with a 13-3 win over Hollidaysburg last Thursday.
Thursday, May 24, the Central Mountain baseball team (12-7) will play Hollidaysburg (8-8) for the District 6 Class 5A title at PNG Field in Altoona, game time 7 p.m. Hollidaysburg defeated the Wildcats by a 9-2 score on April 28. Hollidaysburg is the defending district champion but so far this season has been without the services of pitcher Sam Servello, out with an injury. Servello pitched six shutout innings when the Golden Tigers downed the Wildcats 2-0 in the district title game a year ago.
All three contests will be streamed live on therecord-online.
