Bucktail’s Long Commits to Centenary

FARWELL – Bucktail multi-sport standout Logan Long will be attending Centenary University in Hackettstown, NJ next school year and participating on the Cyclone wrestling team.

Long signed his commitment paperwork this past week surrounded by family and Bucktail officials. Seated are Marissa Hillyer and daughter Averi, Long and father Howie Long. Standing, from the left, Bucktail athletic director Jack Hanobic, Central Mountain wrestling coach Biff Walizer and Bucktail school principal Betsy Dickey.

Long, a senior this year, said he will put an emphasis on environmental science at Centenary and ultimately wants to be a state patrolman.

He said Centenary is a small school with a good wrestling program. Long is projected as the school’s 157-pound participant next season. The school competes in the NCAA’s Division III.

Long was a 3-year starter for Central Mountain High School through Bucktail’s co-op program with the down river school. He finished his senior season as a PIAA qualifier with a 30-10 mark, finishing second in District 6 and third at the Northwestern regional tourney. He has also lettered on the Bucktail baseball and football teams where he was a two-way Mid Penn Conference all-star in football.
