WIlliamsport Outpaces Central Mountain Track Squads in Season Opener
WILLIAMSPORT β It was a wet chilly opening day for the Central Mountain track and field teams, though the Wildcats battled valiantly, the Millionaires prevailed over the girls’ squad 86-64 and 103-47 over the boys’ squad.
The Lady Wildcats’s Olivia Pierson picked up a first place finish in both the 100M hurdles with a time of 19:13 and the 300M hurdles with 55.98.
Alyssa Laughner took first in the 1600M run with 5:46.67 and was closely followed by teammate, Madison Meyers with 6:09.70 for second place. Myers also picked up a third place finish in the 800M run in 2:47.12. Laughner also took first in the 3200M run with a time of 12:33.39.
In the 400M relay it was the Lady ‘Cats Hunter Barger, Ashley Kline, Kierra Smith and Riley Phillips earning first place in 55.68.
Barger also took second place in the 400M dash in 1:07.59.
In the field events, Olivia Pierson picked up first place in the pole vault cleared the bar at 7′ with Sadie McCaleb placing third with a vault of 6′ 6″.
Jonna Diehl picked up a second place spot for CM in the triple jump with a 29′ 3/4″ effort and third place in the long jump with 13′ 4″.
Sadie McCaleb and Kelsie Buckwalter led the effort in the javelin for Central Mountain with McCaleb taking first with 114′ and Buckwalter placing second with 89’ 7″.
Sarah Probst places first in the shootout for the Lady ‘Cats with a throw of 29′ while Makah Charles finished third with a throw of 26’1/2″. Charles also finished second in the discus with a throw of 80′ 1″.
Amelia McCloy cleared the bar at 5′ 2″ for a first place finish in the high jump for Central Mountain.
For the CM boys, Kenny Jones picked up first place in the 100M dash in 12 seconds flat and a time of 24.47 in the 200M dash.
Corbin Green placed first in the 1600M run with 4:50.67 and first place in the 800M run with 2:11.09. Micah Schall placed second in the 800M with 2:17.21.
Emre Yakut finished first in the 400M dash in 46.13. Yakut was also a member of the Wildcat’s first place 1600M relay team along with Schall, Owen Rinker and William Confer.
Bryce Gray placed third in the 3200M run in 12:54.65.
In the field, Central Mountain was led by Vinnie Kopysciansky who threw the shootout 36′ 8″ for third place and the javelin 100′ 10″ for second place.
Bryce Neff placed second in the high jump with 5’7″ and third in the pole vault clearing 7’ 6″. Matt Porter placed third in the high jump with 5’2″.
The Wildcat track teams will next see action when they travel to Altoona on Thursday, March 29, 2018.
