CM Edges Lady Dutchmen 3-1
ST MARYS – The Lady Wildcats made the 2-hour trip to St. Marys on Friday to face the 11-3 Lady Dutchmen. The game looked to be a clash between two quality teams and two quality pitchers and it played out just that way.
CM struck first with 2 runs in the top of the fifth courtesy of a Maddie Brown single, followed by a sac bunt by Moriah Lindsey and a double by Jess Strouse. Strouse moved to third on the throw home and later scored on a Mariah Major single to give the Cats’ the 2-0 lead. The Lady Dutchmen answered in the bottom half of the inning, scoring one run and they had runners in scoring position with two-outs, but a spectacular diving catch by Bree Hilty ended the threat. While Rachael Shady was dominant in the circle for CM as she racked up 8 K’s over 7 innings of work.
Central Mountain completes its sweep of the Central Penn League, going 6-0 and wrapping up the league title.
The Lady Cats move to 14-3 on the season, and will square off Monday at home vs. Jersey Shore for CM Senior Day.
