MILL HALL — Just when Wildcat baseball faithful thought Central Mountain would never win another game, the Wildcats collected themselves from a 4-run first inning deficit and went on to down St. Marys by a 9-4 count at Mill Hall Community Park on Friday.

Central Mountain came into the game with a 3-game losing streak, a string dropping the Wildcats to 8-5 overall. The Dutchmen meanwhile had won three in a row to move to 7-8 on the year.

St. Marys jumped on Wildcat starter Cayden Stover in the first inning, putting together five hits and two Central Mountain errors to plate four runs.

But Stover, in his first start since March, steadied himself and followed up with six innings of 2-hit ball. Meanwhile Central Mountain plated two in the bottom of the first and four more in the bottom of the second to take a lead the Wildcats would not relinquish.

Eight of the nine Wildcat starters had base hits, including two from Stover, including a double, and two from Kenny Heverly who contributed three RBIs.
Stover went the distance for the win, striking out four and not walking a batter.

With the win Central Mountain moved to 9-5 on the season with a road trip to DuBois up next Monday, followed by a home game with Montoursville on Wednesday.

Five Wildcat seniors were recognized before the game: Stover, Evan Kinley, Darrin Masorti, Trevor Packer and Ryan Yost.
