Hyner Bridge Work to Begin this Week

hyner-bridge-140426RENOVO – Work to rehabilitate a Clinton County bridge on Route 120 near Hyner will get underway this week. Crews will be working through October to replace back walls, approach slabs, expansion joints and wing walls. Once work is complete, area drivers will enjoy smoother, more efficient travel across a bridge that will remain in service for years to come.

The bridge, also known as The Gold Star Mothers Bridge,  spans the west branch of the Susquehanna River about a half-mile southeast of the village of Hyner. The bridge was built in 1987, is 1,450 feet long and carries an average of almost 2,200 vehicles each day.

An alternating traffic pattern will be in place at both ends of the bridge, enforced by temporary traffic signals. PennDOT expects that the traffic signals will be in flash mode on May 1 and fully operational the week of May 5. Two signals will be located on the west end of the bridge and three signals will be located on the east end of the bridge to accommodate access for a side road. Motorists can expect short travel delays.

LTT Trucking LLC of North Bend is the contractor for this $1 million project. All work is weather and schedule dependent. Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
