Skrtich One-Hits Millionaires; Wildcats Win 5-0

cm-baseballWILLIAMSPORT — It’s fair to say starting pitching is a strength for the Central Mountain baseball team.

Five different starters have gone to the mound for the Wildcats so far and all have pitched well; none better than junior Zach Skrtich who Monday hurled a complete game 1-hitter as Central Mountain downed Willliamsport by a 5-0 count.

Skrtich was strong throughout and backed by two double-plays turned by his defense. The only hit the hard-throwing right-hander surrendered was a bullet past third in the fourth inning.

Central Mountain bunched some hits and some Millionaire mistakes to plate four runs in the top of the second inning and added a final run three innings later.

The Wildcats had seven hits in all and played errorless ball, the Millionaires, now 3-3, with three errors.

The win pushed Central Mountain back over .500 at 3-2 going into a contest at downriver foe Jersey Shore (5-0) on Wednesday of this week.
