Sarah Mae Degarmo Jacobs – Obituary
Sarah Mae Degarmo Jacobs, 93, formerly of 204 East Keller Street, Lock Haven, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Born on May 5, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Annie Eyer Degarmo.
Sarah was a graduate of Lock Haven High School.
On October 28, 1940 in Lock Haven, she married the love of her life, Frederick K. “Fritz” Jacobs who preceded her in death in January 1997.
Sarah was a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward in Lock Haven, retiring after the 1972 flood.
She attended the Castanea United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Sarah loved her rose garden.
Surviving are two sons: Fred (Theresa) Jacobs of Flemington and Jerry (Deb) Jacobs of Renovo; a daughter: Joan Moltz of Lock Haven; a brother: Scott Degarmo of Williamsport; a sister, Katherine Fisher of Castanea; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Sarah was preceded by death by four brothers: Levi, John, Paul, and Floyd Degarmo; and a sister, Helen Packer.
A private funeral service for family will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 1 PM at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Flemington with Rev. Bruce Wallace officiating. Family will be received at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service. Burial will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
