James E. Graw – Obituary

James E. Graw, 67, 138 Park Ave., North Bend, PA, died April 5, 2014 at the James E. Van Zandt Medical Center, Altoona, PA. Born in Renovo, PA on Nov. 13, 1946, he was a son of the late Daniel E. and Janet Long Graw. On March 8, 1968, in Colorado Springs, CO, he married Carol L Willard who survives at home.
Jim was a self-employed general contractor who had also worked for Cunningham and J & J Construction. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict serving in Co B, 7th Engr. Bn., Fifth United States Army. Jim spent more than 18 months in Viet Nam. He attained the rank of SP5 and received the Viet Nam Campaign Medal with the Device 60, the Viet Nam Service medal with 2 bronze service stars and the National Defense Service Medal. Jim was a 1964 graduate of the Renovo High School. He belonged to V.F.W Post #6178, Renovo, PA; the Disabled American Veterans and the Viet Nam Veterans of America, Hughesville, PA and had studied 1 year at Penn State to become a paralegal.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a sister: Kathryn J. Graw, S. Renovo, PA and 2 brothers: Danny R. Graw, Shamokin, PA and Ronald L. (Robin) Graw, Carnegie, PA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie E. K. Graw on Oct. 13, 1993.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in July, 2014 at a place, date and time to be announced. There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bucktail Medical Center, 1001 Pine St., S. Renovo, PA 17764.
