Lock Haven Bypass Set for Repaving This Year
HARRISBURG – Work on the Lock Haven Bypass is one of some 250 highway projects scheduled to start this year due to the state’s new transportation plan.
Gov. Tom Corbett outlined the projects earlier this week. Better than $2.1 billion will be invested into the state’s highway and bridge network.
The announcement said projects will include “resurfacing and bridge preservation on the Lock Haven Bypass.”
The concrete roadway portion of Route 220 in the area of the road’s Lock Haven exit has been increasingly pockmarked in recent years. The Harrisburg release did not say whether Paul Mack Boulevard would be part of the resurfacing.
Additional state highway money resulted from the state’s new Act 89 passed last year. The new measure also means liquid fuels reimbursements to help local governments improve their roads and bridges increased by $25 million, equal to eight percent this year. The state release said those payments will grow to roughly $220 million over the next five years.
