RENOVO – Renovo volunteers have done it again! They have raised several thousand dollars for the American Cancer Society selling flowers during a three day period last weekend.
The volunteers, 15 Renovo area women, raised more than $1,800 at table sales in Lingle’s Food Market, $2,125 in sponsorships from Renovo area businesses and also some additional funds prior to the table sales. The money goes to the Flowers of Hope Relay for Life Team of Clinton County.
The Renovo volunteers have been selling flowers each spring for the cancer society and for the past three years had the highest sales in Clinton County. Ellen Anderson, one of the coordinators said she’s not sure if the local group has the record again this year, but she knows they put forth a super effort. “I am so proud of the people in this town, Renovo is really a good place to be,” she said.
The flower sales included daffodils and tulips, and all were sold. The volunteers also had some Boyd’s Bears they gave for $10 donations.
Anderson also praised Lingle’s for their help. The volunteers were able to set their table up inside the store and they held back their flower sales until after relay for life flowers were sold out. “Everybody is just terrific. People continued to make contributions even after the flowers were gone,”
The Renovo volunteers were: Ellen Anderson, Marilyn Short, Rita Sanford, Jane Edwards, Chris Haas, Ann Gregory, Diane Tolomay, Martha Sykes, Joyce Stewart, Ann Simon, Fif Kepler, Brenda Bower, Jeannie Mason and Laura Green.
