Legion Members Attend Central Section Dinner
Members of the 16th District of the Department of Pennsylvania American
Legion and American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) were amongst American Legion Family
members who attended a Central Section testimonial dinner honoring the
National American Legion Commander, Charles E. Schmidt(from Oregon) and the
American Legion Department of Pennsylvania Commander, Carl
Olshefskie(Renovo), at the Middletown American Legion Post #594 on March
21,2017.
National Commander Schmidt visited Veterans and Military facilities
throughout Pennsylvania in addition to having dinners with Legion Family
members in the Eastern and Western parts of Pennsylvania.
Charles Schmidt was elected Commander of the 2.2 million member American
Legion on September 1, 2016 in Cincinnati, Ohio, during the 98th National
Convention of America’s largest Veterans’ organization.
Commander Schmidt shared history in regards to the American Legion
organization and how it has helped thousands of Veterans, troops and their
families throughout it’s 98 years. The mission of the American Legion is
being there for our Veterans, our Troops, their families, our children and
youth and our communities.
He stressed the importance of membership being a vital part of the American
Legion Family, so we may continue to support the many programs for our
Veterans, our troops, their families, our children and our communities.
