Tarantella Files Petitions for Congress

Hanna Unopposed for Term 13

HARRISBURG — Tuesday was the filing deadline to be on the ballot in the May primary and two Clinton County residents turned in the required paperwork at the Keystone Building in Harrisburg.

In the 76th district Rep. Mike Hanna (D-Lock Haven) will likely be unopposed for a district-record 13th term, no one from either major party filing to run against him as of the Tuesday deadline. This will be the second term in a row the Republican Party has not entered a candidate.

Hanna has served as his party’s Minority Whip for the last four years.

Political newcomer Tom Tarantella of Renovo filed his petitions on Tuesday. The retired military man is seeking the Democratic nomination for 5th district Congressman. He will face a May primary opponent in Brookville attorney Kerith Strano Taylor.

The Democratic primary winner will face off in November against incumbent Republican Glenn Thompson of Howard Township, Centre County. Thompson is seeking a fourth term in congress; he is unopposed in the GOP primary.
