Richard “Dick” Alexander McKinney, 69, of Lock Haven, passed away on February 28, 2014. Dick was born on February 1, 1945 in Lock Haven, PA. He was the son of the late Alexander C. McKinney and Bertha “Bert” McKinney Edkin both of Lock Haven, and the late Ruth Weaver Naso of Jersey Shore, PA.

Dick is survived by his wife, Susan J. Renninger McKinney of Lock Haven, daughters Hollie L. (Tim) Keohane of Lock Haven, Laurie L. Hills of Kansas City, Kansas and sons Drew R. (Danielle) McKinney and Brent A. McKinney both of Beaver, PA; a sister, Donna Miller of Linden, PA and four adoring grandchildren, Jon A. Wise, Grace K. Keohane, Melina J. McKinney and Savannah M. McKinney.

He was preceded in death by his loving son Travis C. McKinney in 1979 and grandson, Robert “Bobby” C. Wise, III in 2012.

Dick was a 1963 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He started his aviation career with Piper Aircraft in the shipping department and later found his passion as a pilot. Upon Piper’s transfer to Florida he made his way into the main lines as a commercial airline pilot for Alleghany Airlines. Most of his career he was based in State College, PA, but also worked in Williamsport, PA and Harrisburg, PA. He retired from Alleghany Airlines in 2005.

Among Dick’s many interests were hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and being at “Camp,” but most importantly he was a loving husband, father, Pap and a great friend to so many! He will be so missed by all of his family and friends!!!

Dick was the Membership Chairman of the Pennsylvania State Camp Lessee Association (PSCLA). He was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), Haneyville Snowmobile Club, Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association (PSSA), Sugar Valley Snowriders Association, Potter County Snowmobile Club and a lifetime member of the Castanea Fire Company.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Flemington, PA. There will also be a public funeral service at the same location on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor James Redmon officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Castanea Fire Company or the Pennslyvania State Camp Lessee Association (PSCLA).
