Pairings Released for PIAA State Tourney – Session Times
HERSHEY – Pairing have been announced for the 2014 PIAA wrestling tourney starting Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Giant Center.
Central Mountain round-of-16 matchups for the three Wildcats competing:
145 pound class:
Demetri Probst (NW2, jr., 27-10) vs. Shane Ruhnke (SE2, Great Valley, sr., 34-4). Probst is ranked 18th in the PaPower rankings, Ruhnke ranked 13th. Ruhnke was a state qualifier a year ago when he went 34-8. Winner will likely meet defending state champion Solomon Chishko (23-3) from Canon McMillan in the quarterfinals.
160 pound class:
Chad Reese (NW2, sr., 35-6) vs. Cody Cordes (NE2, Wyoming Valley West, jr., 40-3). Reese is ranked 5th in PaPower rankings, Codes ranked 8th. Codes was 37-8 a year ago and did not qualify for states (Reese did). Winner will likely meet former state champion Garrett Peppelman (42-1) from Central Dauphin in the quarterfinals.
170 pound class:
Gavin Caprio (NW3, jr., 35-6) vs. John Dambro (SE1, sr., Garnet Valley, 37-3). Caprio is ranked 8th in PaPower rankings, Dambro ranked 9th. Dambro was 32-8 a year ago and a state qualifier. The winner will get the winner of a first round match between Idris White (NE2, jr., Father Judge (39-8) and Cody Seibert (SC2, sr., Big Spring, 32-5). Idris is ranked 4th in the state, Seibert 5th.
