Wildcats, Eagles Lead the Team Race at Top Hat














WILLIAMSPORT β District 6 foes Central Mountain and Bald Eagle Area are running one-two after day one of the annual Tom Best Memorial Top Hat wrestling tournament.
The Wildcats under second year head coach Biff Walizer are on top with 79 points while the Eagles under first year coach Ron Guenot sit in second with 76 points. Central Mountain has five wrestlers in the Saturday morning semifinal round, another eight still alive in the consolations. BEA has four in the semifinals and five into round three of the wrestle-backs.
Line Mountain is third with 72.5, Montoursville fourth in the 22-tewam field with 63 points. Defending champion Jersey Shore is in 12th place with 51 points and two semifinalists.
Into the semifinals for Central Mountain are Geo Barzona at 120 pounds, Seth Andrus at 126, Asher Corl at 152, Tanner Weaver at 170 and Caleb Turner at 182. Barzona, a 2-time state place-winner, picked up two first period falls to pace the Wildcat attack. The team again displayed its pin power, totaling 13 in all, eight in round one, two in the pigtail consolation round, two in the first consolation round and one in the quarterfinals.
The second round of consolations begins Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by the semifinals at 10:30 a.m. Parade of champions is scheduled for 4 p.m., first, third and fifth place bouts at 4:15 p.m.
