Renninger carries Lock Haven past Carlow
LOCK HAVEN – Cole Renninger (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) flirted with a triple-double and Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) scored a career-high 27 points as the duo powered the Lock Haven University men’s basketball team’s (4-1) past Carlow (0-7), 91-70.
The Tuesday win, Lock Haven’s fourth of the season and second straight pushed the Bald Eagles to 4-1, marking the best start – and first 4-1 start to a season in 23 years.
Renninger had a career-night on the way to a big double-double. He finished with a career-high 14 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Renninger capped a brilliant night with a career-high eight assists as he flirted with the triple-double and history. There has only been one other triple-double in school history.
Hinton was 12 of 17 from the floor and hit one 3-pointer on the way to his career-high 27 points. He added six rebounds.
Hinton and Renninger were joined by two other Bald Eagles in double-figure scoring including Ra’eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) and Brahieme Jackson (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt), who netted 15 and 11 points, respectively. Jackson added seven rebounds.
The Bald Eagles shrugged off a slow start and went on a late first-half run to change the momentum of the game. LHU led 38-31 at halftime thanks to a 15-0 run late in the half.
In the second half, Lock Haven shot 52 percent from the field and racked up 53 points to roll the Celtics.
The Bald Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, November 30 at 7 p.m. when they travel to Penn State Fayette.
