Bestwick Foundation Event Saturday
MACKEYVILLE — The third annual car raffle benefiting the Bestwick Foundation will be held this Saturday at the Central Pennsylvania Auto Auction.
The winning ticket holder will have his or her choice of a 1990 Citroen C15 vehicle, a 2016 Honda Fourtrax Rancher or $5,000 in cash. The catered event, which includes a car show, will begin at 11 a.m. and the drawing will take place at 2 p.m. The winner need not be present to win.
The Bestwick Founation is a Clinton/Centre County non-profit organization. Foundation official Don Leitzell said Bestwick is an outgrowth of the former Coaches against Cancer program in Centre County. He said it aids area cancer victims, most recently assisting with former Keystone Little League coach Justin Kline who is battling leukemia. Kline and his family have faced extensive costs associated with his continuing treatment at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia.
Bestwick raises its money through yearly events and fundraisers; Leitzell said the foundation goal is to make a direct impact on the community and enrich the lives of others.
The Foundation has been showcasing the event vehicles in the area, including a recent Bald Eagle and Nittany Valley Kiwanis Club cancer-related program at the Mill Hall Fire Company. Bestwick representatives present were Leitzell, his son Taylor and Megan Vonada, a student at Central Mountain High School who is involved in the fundraiser as her senior project at the local school.
