X-Country at Selinsgrove

SELINSGROVE – Central Mountain was on the road to face host, Selinsgrove along with Williamsport and Danville for high school x-country action for the Heartland Conference.

The Lady Wildcats picked up a win over Williamsport (26-30) but fell to Selinsgrove (26-30) and Danville 23-35. The Lady ‘Cats were led by a first place overall finish by Alyssa Laughner in 19:03 in a field of 48 runners. Also finishing in the top 20 were: Rebecca Piergallini in 9th place at 20:26; Christina Lugg in 12th place at 20:37 and Ellie Nesbitt in 15th place at 21:17.

For the boys, the Wildcats narrowly edged Selinsgrove (27-28) and lost to Williamsport (23-33) and Danville (20-42).

Corbin Green paced Central Mountain finishing 2nd overall in a field of 43 runners with James Riccardo placing 12th in 18:44 and Owen Rinker coming 14th in 18:47 to finish in the top 20.

Next up for the Wildcats is a trip to the NEPA X-C Invitational at Bloomsburg University on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016.
