Chicago Bears Cut Kicker Robbie Gould
CHICAGO – ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Chicago Bears today cut veteran kicker Robbie Gould.
Chicago media outlets expressed surprise at the news. Gould, a Central Mountain and Penn State graduate, was the Bears’ longest tenured player at 11 years and the team’s all-time leading scorer.
Gould had kicked three field goals but missed extra points in the Bears’ exhibition game last Thursday. He was the second highest paid kicker in the NFL.
He was 33 for 39 in field goals last season and had missed only seven games since joining Chicago in 2005.
