Renovo Elks 120 Years Old

RENOVO – The Renovo Lodge #334 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will be one hundred and twenty years old on July 9, 2016.

On July 9, 1896, during regular Grand Lodge session held in Cincinnati, Ohio the Renovo Elks Lodge was granted their charter.

The new lodge met in several building during the next twenty-nine years, the first being the Knights of Columbus building on the corner of Sixth and Huron. During this period the lodge continued to look for a permanent building and considered many including the Hotel Clinton, which is now Yesterday’s.

Finally in 1922 a large membership drive was started and the lodge gained over one hundred new members. With this influx of members the lodge was able to purchase four lots and erect its present building. Construction began in 1924 and was completed in 1925.

On July 9, 2016 the Renovo Elks will conduct a re-dedication of the building which is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. All Elk members and their families as well as their prospective future members are invited to attend.
