Clinton County’s Unemployment sees slight improvement for March

LOCK HAVEN-Clinton County’s unemployment rate improved slightly during the month of March, according to information released this week by the state Department of Labor and Industry.

The county’s jobless rate was 3.6% in March, down from the 4.0% reading in February. The March 2023 rate for Clinton County was 4.4%.

Montour and Susquehanna counties had the lowest reading out of the state’s 67 counties for March 2024, both checking in with 2.4%. The highest was shared by Monroe and Forest counties at 4.2%. Clinton County’s 3.6% checked in at no. 49 of the 67 counties.

For the week ending April 20, 2024, Clinton County had 19 filings for initial unemployment benefits, on par with a year ago. The continued claims for the same week was 281, up from 263 in late April 2023.
