Lock Haven University to Welcome Students Back to Campus
LOCK HAVEN – Fall is upon us, and for Lock Haven University that can only mean one thing—students are about to descend on campus for the beginning of another exciting year. The University is excited to welcome to campus returning and transfer students. In addition, the University will welcome the freshman class of 2020 whose members will graduate in LHU’s sesquicentennial year.
According to Tyana Lange, vice president for enrollment management and student affairs, “Upper class Movers and Shakers (volunteers who help with freshman move-in) arrived on campus today. Tomorrow about half of the new freshman and transfer students will arrive, with the remainder coming to campus on Saturday. Upperclassmen will return Sunday prior to the start of Monday’s classes.
Approximately 1350 students will reside in LHU’s residence halls, which include Fairview Suites, North, Smith, and Woolridge Halls, and Campus Village. Exciting events are planned throughout the weekend, and all of Welcome Week, to help usher students into a new year. With a variety of activities planned for the weekend including general orientation sessions, a New Student Fun Fest, academic sessions, and parent information sessions, new students will have plenty of resources available to make their transition into college life a seamless one.
The week will culminate Sunday evening with Opening Ceremonies from 6:30-7:30 on University Drive. Students, faculty, and staff will enjoy games and snacks on Campus Drive and Berkebile Circle prior to a welcome-back program.
Students will see considerable change to the main campus layout, a new amphitheatre and landscaping nearing completion where Sullivan Hall had been until earlier this year.
