Renovo Boy Scouts Hold Scout Sunday Service

RENOVO – On February 9, Boy Scout Troop 137 took part in the Scout Sunday Service at Zion’s Lutheran Church on 11th Street, Renovo, PA. Those participating were: Vincent Dimattia and Jon Probst (Lighting Candles); Gabe Janerella (1st Lesson Reader); Tristin Bissman (2nd Lesson Reader); Richard Probst, Jon Probst, Nate James, Troy Prebble (Ushers); Mason Johnson and Alex Kitchen (Greeters).

The Annual Parent’s Day was held at 3:00 p.m. with Webelos Scout Pack 137 and Boy Scout Troop 137 at the Zion’s Lutheran Church. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and Scout Laws led by Jon Probst and the prayer by Gabe Janerella.

The ceremonies started with the presentation of progress awards. Those earning awards in the following ranks were: Malaki Veverkaburger, Evan Ransdorf, Nick Bratz, and William Kelley (BOBCAT); Nathan James (TENDERFOOT); Gabe Janerella (SECOND CLASS); Gabe Janerella and Richard Probst ( FIRST CLASS); Gabe Janerella and Richard Probst (STAR); Vin Dimattia (LIFE).

The following Webelos of Pack 137 earned Activity Pins and Webelos Colors: Xavier Jarrett (AQUANAUT, CITIZEN, and SERVICE STAR); Malaki Veverkaburger (AQUANAUT, CITIZEN, and SERVICE STAR; Evan Ransdorf CITIZEN and SERVICE STAR); Nick Bratz (CITIZEN, SERVICE STAR); William Kelley (AQUANAUT, CITIZEN, SERVICE STAR).

Troop 137 Scouts earned the following Merit Badges:

Tristin Bissman- Woodcarving and Basketry.

Troy Prebble – Woodcarving and Basketry.

Mason Johnson- Woodcarving, Basketry, Textile, Personal Fitness,

Gabe Janerella- Citizenship in the Nation, World and Community,

Basketry, Woodcarving, Inventing, Chess, Theater,

Textile, and Computers.

Vin Dimattia – Textile, Chess, Citizenship in the World, Basketry,

Richard Probst- Basketry, Chess, Citizenship in the World, Nation and

Community, Textile, Woodcarving.

Nathan James – Citizenship in the World, Nation and Community,

Scouts earning Service Stars were ONE YEAR: Troy Prebble, and Tristin Bissman; THREE YEAR: Gabe Janerella and Nate James; FIVE YEAR: Vin Dimattia and Richard Probst; SIX YEAR: Mason Johnson and Tristan Schelb; SEVEN YEAR: Jon Probst

Attendance Pins were earned by the following: 1 Year: Gabe Janerella, Richard Probst, Jonathan Probst; 4 Years: Mason Johnson.

The following officers were installed: Senior Patrol Leader – Vin Dimattia; Asst. Senior Patrol Leader – Gabe Janerella; Patrol Leader – Nate James; Asst. Patrol Leader – Tristin Bissman; Scribe -Richard Probst; Committee Member – Wendy Janerella; Jr. Asst. Scoutmaster – Mason Johnson and Tristan Schelb.

Special Award for 2014 went to Vito Janerella, John Probst, Dennis Johnson, and Wendy Janerella.

Thirty-five scouts and parents attended Church and fifty-five attended Parent’s Day despite the weather. Anyone interested in joining Scouts is welcome to attend on Tuesday nights from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the Lutheran Church Basement.

Our next event is the Eagle Scout Banquet on March 1. At that time three (3) Scouts will attain their Eagle Scout rank. The Troop and Troop Committee are working on the 50th Anniversary Banquet on May 31.
