Jo Ann Murray – Obituary

Jo Ann Murray, of 860 West Bald Eagle Street, Lock Haven, was welcomed into the arms of God on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Susque View Home.

Born on November 19, 1925 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Vera Bartlett Eckert, Sr.

Jo Ann graduated from Lock Haven High School before earning her nursing degree from Lock Haven Hospital School of Nursing.

After graduating from nursing school, she worked as a registered nurse at Jersey Shore Hospital for twenty years and then for sixteen years at Lock Haven Hospital.

Jo Ann was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.

She was member of the Altar and Rosary Society as well as Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by two sons: Patrick L. (Sharon L.) Murray of Beech Creek and Michael (Carrol) Murray of York; one daughter, Charlene A. (Franklin) Peter of McElhattan; one brother, James R. (Jane) Eckert of Milesburg; two sisters: Martha Russell of Mill Hall and Margaret Dolan of Blanchard; one sister-in-law, Amy Eckert of NY; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by one brother, John L. “Jack” Eckert, Jr. and one brother-in-law, Clarence Dolan.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 12 noon with the Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
