Seven Lady ‘Cats Receive All-Star Honors
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP β The Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference and District 6 Pennsylvania Softball Coaches Association All-Star selections have been released for the 2016 softball season. The Lady Wildcats finished the year with a 16-5 mark overall, 11-3 in the PHAC.
Four Lady Wildcat seniors were also selected to represent Central Mountain at the PSBCS Hall of Fame Game at Beard Field on the campus of Penn State University on June 22.
Emily Strouse, Kimmee Coder, Madison Brown and Sarah Reeder will play roles in the District 6 vs. District 4 which will include some of the top college prospects in women’s softball from across central Pennsylvania.
Leading the way for the the Lady Wildcats in post season honors is Madison Brown with a first team all-star selection in both the Heartland Conference (Div. I) and the District 6 AAA/AAAA Pa. Softball Coaches Association ballots.
Brown has amassed some amazing numbers in her senior season and her varsity career overall. This season she has 79 plate appearances, 68 at bats, 35 hits 10 walks, no strikeouts, with a batting average of .515 and an on base percentage of .577. Brown’s career numbers with 3 seasons on varsity are: 167 plate appearances, 138 at bats, 60 hits, 26 walks, 4 total strikeouts in three seasons, batting average of .434 and career on base percentage of .530. Several of Brown’s statistics for the season and career may be school records, once verified.
Emily Strouse picked up first team all-star honors from the D6 PSBCA (AA/AAAA) and second team honors for the PHAC (Div I) as a pitcher.
Strouse was 6-2 from the circle in her senior season with 1.38 ERA in the regular season. In 20 games, Strouse hit .283 with 17 hits on the year. Strouse also had a great season playing centerfield when she wasn’t pitching with a fielding percentage of .973 and only a single error in the regular season.
Senior, Kimmee Coder was selected as a PSBCA (AA/AAAA) all-star at catcher.
Coder has been solid behind the plate for Central Mountain commanding the defense and earned a 1.000 perfect fielding percentage in her 19 games of the 2016 season. Coder also contributed in the batter’s box with a .242 batting average for the regular season.
Sarah Reeder was rewarded for her solid play in her senior season at third base with all-star honors from the D6 PSBCA (AA/AAAA).
Reeder played in all 20 regular season games with a batting average of .265 with 18 hits and 19 RBI. Reeder also had a .869 fielding percentage on defense.
Junior, Autumn Young was recognized for her efforts this season with PSBCA (AA/AAAA) all-star honors as a designated player.
Young hit .321 for the Lady Wildcats in 2016 that included 18 hits, 20 RBI and 2 home runs.
Sophomore, Josie Dershem was selected an all-star by the PSBCA (AA/AAAA) as an infielder and a PHAC (Div. I) second team all-star as a utility player.
On defense Dershem had a .968 fielding percentage working at second base for the Lady ‘Cats with only 2 errors in 19 games. Dershem also worked in the circle for the Lady Wildcats pitching in 6 games going 4-2 on the regular season.
At the plate for CM this season, Dershem hit .248 with 19 hits including a homer and 7 RBI.
Skylar Smith, another sophomore for Central Mountain, received all-star honors from PSBCA (AA/AAAA) and second team all-star recognition from PHAC (Div. I) for her contributions at shortstop this season.
Smith accumulated a .917 fielding percentage in 18 games played with only 4 errors on the year. Smith was also solid offensively hitting .349 with 15 hits and 9 RBI.
