penndot-alertLAMAR – Bridge replacement work on Route 64 in Lamar is continuing and extended traffic stops are scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 24, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The bridge spans Fishing Creek, near the village of Lamar. Replacing the bridge will remove it from Clinton County’s structurally deficient list and provide area drivers with a new, modern structure.

On Tuesday project contractor LTT Trucking will be setting beams on the bridge. According to a PennDOT release, due to limited work space, crews will be stopping traffic during the beam setting activity and lengthy delays are expected. Drivers who come through this area on a regular basis are encouraged to use alternate routes in order to avoid long travel delays. The bridge is already on a one-lane, traffic light-controlled setup while the project is carried out.

The stoppages this week will compound delayed traffic through the Nittany Valley in the vicinity of Lamar. Interstate 80 between the Lamar and Lock Haven exits has seen backed up one-lane traffic in both directions while improvements are carried out on the interstate this summer.

The Route 64 project work includes construction of a single-span, composite concrete box-beam bridge, paving, guide rail installation, and miscellaneous items.

PennDOT expects the new bridge to be complete by late October. All work is weather and schedule dependent. LTT Trucking, LLC of North Bend is the contractor on the $1.9 million project.
