Hannagan Receives State Recognition

lh-sealUNIVERSITY PARK — Lock Haven’s longtime city planner has received state recognition for her nearly two decades of service to the Lock Haven community.

Leonora Hannagan was honored recently with the prestigious C. Riley Stoy Community Development Award; one award recipient is selected annually by statewide planners and community development professionals. The occasion was the annual Community Development and Housing Practioners Conference at the Nttany Lion Inn.

Over the past 19 years Hannagan has been able to secure in excess of $17 million for a variety of city projects involving airport, economic development, fire, housing rehabilitation, infrastructure improvements, planning, police, recreation, and recycling activities.

Prior to her 19 years as the Planner/Development Coordinator for Lock Haven, she had been employed by the City of Wilkes-Barre for 18 years in a variety of capacities, including director of the Bureau of Community Development, Housing & Building Inspection.

In addition to the multiples programs she oversees with the city, Hannagan administers the Historic District Overlay Ordinance for the city’s Water Street Historic District; the summer concert series about to begin its eighteenth season and provides 24 free concerts; and Lock Haven’s outdoor movie series in its fourth season.

Hannagan serves as chairperson of the STEP, Inc. Board of Directors; vice-chair of the Clinton County Enterprise Zone Committee and is a member of the design committee for Downtown Lock Haven, Inc.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Mansfield University with a concentration in journalism and communications.
