‘Cat Hoops Hits Skid

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – A bid by the Central Mountain boys’ basketball team to scale Mount .500 has hit a wall.
The Wildcats absorbed their third straight loss Tuesday night, a 77-68 defeat inflicted by playoff bound Jersey Shore.
The win put the Bulldogs at 11-7 and guaranteed ‘Shore a berth in the upcoming District 4 AAA playoffs, their first playoff appearance in four years.
The loss dropped the Wildcats to 5-11 and made any hopes of the postseason a long shot.
Jersey Shore led throughout in the Coaches vs. Cancer event on the Wildcat home court. It was 18-12 after one quarter, 42-34 at the half. The Wildcats made a run in quarter three, getting to within 56-54 but ‘Shore put up a 20-14 split in quarter four for the 77-68 win.
Seniors Tyler Everhart with 26 points and Travis Turchetta with 13 led Central Mountain. Sophomore Alex Garbrick followed with 11.
Eric Huling with 23 and Zach Miller with 20 topped the Bulldog effort.
The loss to the Bulldogs followed a 51-34 loss to Williamsport (9-10) last Friday.
Central Mountain will host St. Marys (7-11) Thursday and travel to Tyrone (15-3) Saturday. The Wildcats already own a 68-65 win over St. Marys on the Dutchmen’s home court.
