Lady Wildcats Best Altoona 6-3
The Lady Wildcats traveled to Altoona to meet a D6 AAAA opponent. The Cats’ jumped out early with 4 runs in the first inning, and added runs in the second and fourth innings. Cait Brush started and earned the win in the circle, pitching a complete game 5-hitter.
Central Mountain got multiple hits from Madison Brown (2 for 3, 2 R, RBI), and Autumn Young (2 for 4, double, R, 2 RBI). Brush helped her own cause with a 2-out double and 2 RBI in the first inning. Maegan Miller and Emily Strouse also added hits, both going 1 for 3.
Brush picked up her 5th win of the season (5-0) and pitched her second complete game of the season. She scattered 5 hits and struck out 4.
For the Wildcats, it moves their record to 10-1 on the season. It was a good win to get things rolling in a difficult 5-game week. Tomorrow, CM travels to Selinsgrove, then on to Mifflinburg Thursday for a tough conference matchup. They end the week with two games at the Thunder on the Mountain Tournament.
As a side note, the Sunday rankings on Maxpreps for AAAA (PA) have 3 teams at the Thunder on the Mountain in the top 11.
Hempfield Area No. 2, Mifflin County No. 8, CM No. 11. There should be an update to the rankings on Thursday of this week. It adds a little more importance to the tournament.
