Lady Wildcat Bats Dominate Danville 16-7
DANVILLE – The Lady Wildcats had an “unusual” win on Thursday at Danville. CM was without senior catcher Kimmie Coder, who was in Hershey at an academic competition. Coder has caught every game for the last two seasons. In her place, freshman Bailee Renninger made her varsity debut as a starter. Renninger and the Cats’ battled through some jitters and some changes in the lineup to win their sixth straight game.
CM piled up 16 runs on 18 hits, after a slow start. Ten different Lady Wildcats had hits in the game. Leading the charge was sophomore Skylar Smith, who served as the DP hitting for Renninger. Smith had a huge day at the plate, going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 3 runs, and an RBI. Madi Brown and Emily Strouse each had 3 hits, while Josie Dershem and Cait Brush each added a pair of hits. Autumn Young hit a 2-run HR.
Dershem started in the circle, but struggled with her control. She was relieved by Emily Strouse who came on to throw 4 2/3 innings of 1-hit ball to earn the win.
CM moves to 6-0 on the season and next travels to State College for a 11 a.m. game with the Lady Little Lions Saturday, April, 16.
