Complete the Dream Celebration Fuels 10-0 Win over Midd-West

cm-softballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain softball team had not played a game in a week, but showed no ill effects from the layoff, routing Midd-West by a 10-0 score in a 5-inning game on Tuesday.

It was another Lady Wildcat team effort, solid pitching, solid defense and timely heating as CM moved to 5-0 on the young season. Starter Caitlyn Brush (2-0) was steady from start to finish, going all five innings and holding the Lady Mustangs to three hits and no runs, striking out six and walking one.

The Central Mountain offense started slowly. “Small ball” scored the first run. Sarah Reeder led off the second with a single, stole second base and was sacrificed to third by Kimmie Coder; Brush then drove in the game’s first run with a sacrifice fly.

Central Mountain would score multiple runs in each of the succeeding innings to win going away. Key hits included a 2-RBI single from Madison Brown, a 2-RBI triple from Reeder and a game-ending two-run single from Megan Miller, pushing the score to the 10-0 final with one out in the bottom of the fifth.

“We were able to get everybody into the game today which was good because we’ve had some close games where we couldn’t make any substitutions, ” said head coach Dave Peters about the win.”

“Megan Miller, a sophomore, comes in to get a clutch hit here to end the game speaks well of our depth,” Peters said, “Midd-West has improved over what we saw last year. They were making some plays today they weren’t making last year and we had to step up our game to win,” Peters added.

Reeder finished with her two hits; Loren Marasco contributed a double, a hit-by-pitch and walk, scoring three runs. Emily Strouse had a double and Averie Pringle a single, part of a seven-hit attack, helped by six Midd-West walks and four errors.

The task will get more difficult the rest of this week: Central Mountain will travel to Danville (1-1) on Thursday and State College (3-0) Saturday.

Before the game, the Lady Wildcat softball family took out time to recognize those individuals, families, boosters, school officials and local businesses who made their softball facility a reality with a ‘Complete the Dream Celebration.’

“When you look around here, I think this is one of the best facilities we play at and call home,” said coach Peters of the supporters, “We’re proud of our program and where we are from and thankful to everyone who gave to make this possible.”
