PSSA Tests Next Week at Renovo Elementary and Bucktail MS

FARWELL – The time has finally arrived for students in grades 3-8 at Renovo Elementary School and Bucktail Middle School to show how diligently they have been working during this school year.  Students, teachers, and parents have been working cooperatively throughout this school year to help the Renovo Elementary students and Bucktail Middle School students acquire concepts and skills from the new PA Core standards.   Next week, students will be given the opportunity to show their best work when they will participate in the annual Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) tests.

Students in grades 3-8 will be taking the PSSA tests beginning April 11, 2016.  The English Language Arts (ELA) PSSA tests will be given April 11-14 to students in grades 3-8.  The following week, the Mathematics PSSA tests will be given on April 18-20 to students in grades 3-8.  In addition, the fourth graders and eighth graders will take the Science PSSA tests on April 25-26.

The faculty and staff at Renovo Elementary and Bucktail Middle School would like to thank parents and other family members for all of the support they have given their children this year.  At Renovo Elementary School and Bucktail Middle School we are proud of our students and their accomplishments.  We know that when teachers, students, and parents work together great things can happen in a child’s education.

  • Listed below are several ways parents can continue to support their children by helping them to prepare for the PSSA tests.
  • Please make sure your child gets a good night’s rest the night before each test.
  • Please make sure that your child eats a good breakfast each morning before the test.  As a reminder, breakfast is free to all students each morning at Renovo Elementary.
  • Please make sure your child arrives at school on time each day.  Testing will begin the first thing in the morning on each testing day.
  • Please remind your child to have his/her glasses if he/she wears glasses.
  • Have a positive attitude about the test and convey that positive attitude to your child.  Remind him/her that you believe in him/her and are proud of him/her.
  • Encourage your child to do his/her best.
  • Encourage him/her to use the stress reliever strategies that were taught if he/she starts to feel anxiety.
