Wildcats Pummel Mifflinburg 11-0

MILL HALL — The Central Mountain baseball team is rolling through the Heartland Conference in the early going. Mifflinburg fell today 11-0 in a 5-inning game; the Wildcat victory followed a 15-0 3-inning win over Midd-West last Friday.
Senior Toner Corl was dominant on the mound, holding a young Mifflinburg team to three hits in his second complete game win of the season. So far in two starts Corl has held the opposition to five hits and one earned run. He struck out four and walked one.
“Toner mixes his speed, changes location and is confident no matter what the count is. He kept them off balance today,” said head coach Mike Kramer of his starting pitcher, “Then we played solid defense behind him,” he added.
Talon Falls at the beginning of the game took one away from their lead-off hitter. Then Colin Treaster made a big play for us when they lacked the ball hard,” Kramer recalled about the Wildcat’s defensive play.
Corl had plenty of offensive help as the Wildcats touched up two Mifflinburg pitchers for eight hits, the home team helped by six walks and a hit batter. Central Mountain put up runs in all four of their at-bats, starting with four in the first. Alex Garbrick started the streak with a single, followed by an RBI triple from Talon Falls, an RBI single from Wyatt Koch, a walk to Isaac Porter, the two final runs scoring on an infield error off the bat of Austyn Carson.
“Guys up and down the line put the ball in play and got on base,” said coach Kramer of his offense, “We got clutch hits when we needed them and they kept adding on. We stress to the team to try and extend the lead and they did it.”
Three more runs came across in the second: Asher Corl walked and brother Toner Corl doubled. Garbrick walked to load the bases, Falls brought in a run with a sacrifice fly and Koch brought in two with a single. One more was added in the third off an RBI ground-out from Asher Corl. The ‘Cats plated their final three in the bottom of the fourth: Falls singled, Koch and Porter walked. Conner Bauman brought in Falls with a sacrifice fly and Ethan Watkins followed with a single; Landon Breon brought in the final two with a double to right.
Falls finished 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs, Koch 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Toner Corl and Breon had doubles with singles from Garbrick and Watkins.
The Wildcats are now 3-1, Mifflinburg falling to 1-1. Central Mountain travels to Milton Friday and, weather permitting, will host Shikellamy Saturday at 4:30 p.m., a make-up game from this past Monday.
