LHU Drops DH at Bloomsburg
BLOOMSBURG – The Lock Haven University baseball team (13-14, 5-7 PSAC East) capped its four-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East series at Bloomsburg University today on the road, dropping a double-header and running the Bald Eagle losing streak to seven games in a row.
Bloomsburg won game one, 3-2 and took home game-two with a 9-8 victory. The Huskies had taken a double-header from the Bald Eagles on Friday, the scores 9-5 and 4-2 Bloom.
In game one, Lock Haven scored its two runs on seven hits, including a pair from Jamie Eshleman (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land). Eshleman was 2 for 3 at the plate. Sam Kysor (Port Allegany, Pa./USC Upstate) went 2 for 4.
Jacob Belinda (Port Matilda, Pa./Tyrone) took the loss after six solid innings of work. He scattered six hits and struck out 11.
The Bald Eagles took the 1-0 lead in the second and led 2-1 after the top half of the fifth.
The Huskies tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of fifth and plated the winning run in the sixth when Ryan Kirman hit a solo home run.
In game two, the two teams combined for 17 runs on 21 hits.
With the game tied 8-8, Tyler Benson homered for Bloomsburg in the sixth and it proved to be the difference in the outcome.
Tyson Petersheim (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) and Nick Stotler (Pittsburgh/Coker College) both homered for Lock Haven.
Stotler hit a two-run home run in the first and Petersheim drove in three runs when he homered in the second inning.
Hunter Szaflarski (Greencastle, Pa./Hagerstown C.C.) and Matt Lahn (Georgetown, ONT./Erie C.C.) both recorded two hits.
Brett Morrison (Duncannon, Pa./Suquenita) struck out eight in relief.
Lock Haven is scheduled to play a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 5 at IUP (1/3 p.m.), before gearing up for a four-game series with No. 4 Millersville. The Bald Eagles host Millersville on Friday, April 8 at 1 p.m. at Foundation Field.
