2016 PIAA AAA Wrestling – Semi-Final Round (Live Updates)
HERSHEY – Wrestling action continues this morning in the 2016 PIAA AAA State Championships at the Giant Center with the Semi-Final Round at 9 a.m.
Friday was a tough day for area wrestlers with five more suffering their second loss dropping them out of contention and six more wrestlers bumped into the consolation brackets, now hoping for a third place finish.
Only Mifflin County’s Hayden Hidlay (152) and Trent Hidlay (160) along with Altoona’s Cole Manley (126) remain in contention for a gold medal.
Still alive in the wrestle backs are CM’s Geo Barzona (106), Noah Myers (120), Noah Stewart (170) and Trey Hartsock of Mifflin County. BEA still has Seth Koleno (132) and Josh Fye (285) alive in the lower bracket with Brock Port (145) of Bellefonte, Hadyn Swartwood (160) of Jersey Shore and Selinsgrove’s Drew Boob (220) still in action in the consolation round.
Bethlehem Catholic solidified their hold on first place in the team race Friday with 68.5 points, 5 wrestlers in the winner’s bracket and 1 in the wrestle backs. Mifflin County still holds onto second place with 42.5 points, two wrestlers in the top bracket and 3 in the consy round. They are followed closely by Belle Vernon with 41 points and Nazareth with 40, each with 3 wrestlers in the top bracket and 1 in the lower.
