Lady Wildcats Host Altoona (Photos Added)

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Lady Wildcats have been struggling on the hardwood this season. With only one junior and no seniors on the roster, there are few on that list with past varsity experience. Their youth and inexperience, however, is slowly becoming tempered with the more time they spend with hard work facing formidable odds. Such was the case in their 64-33 loss to Altoona.

In hosting the Lady Mountain Lions, there were some bright spots for Central Mountain. Most notably in their play during the second quarter where they actually outscored Altoona 11-8. Though, that effort brought them within six points of their guests, Altoona turned up the heat in the second half outscoring CM 25-4 in the third and 12-4 in the final period.

In that second quarter, the Lady Wildcats seems to play a bit more relaxed. There were fewer turnovers. Cleaner passing. Accurate shooting. They actually forced a few turnovers of their own and turned those opportunities, including a few offensive rebounds, into points. All the while they played aggressively yet limiting fouls.

Mary Monoski led the Lady ‘Cats with 20 points on the night. Emily Strouse added four points, followed by Lacey Kitner contributed three points. Lydia McCaleb, Elaina Eckley and Alexis Anastos each scored two points.
