Renninger Hired as New CM Football Coach

cm-footballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — The Keystone Central school board tonight hired Jim Renninger as the new Central Mountain football coach.

Renninger, a social studies teacher at Central Mountain High, had been the choice of the district’s athletic committee to replace Mike Nines whose contract was not renewed after a 2-year run produced a 3-17 record.

Renninger was a standout football player at Bald Eagle-Nittany High School graduating in 1989. Renninger then attended Clarion University from 1989-1991 continuing his football career at the collegiate level for Golden Eagles.

Renninger enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1992-96.

Renninger returned to the college classroom following his military service graduating from Lock Haven University in 1998 with a degree in secondary education. Renninger then completed his master’s degree in educational leadership/administration from the University of Scranton in 2011.

Renninger began his career as an educator at Montgomery Area High School where he also served as head football coach from 1999-2002, head varsity boys’ basketball coach from 2000-01 and track and field coach in 2001 for a combined Muncy-Montgomery team.

In 2003, Renninger became part of the faculty at Central Mountain High School. He served as assistant varsity football coach for the Wildcats from 2003-10, 8th grade boys’ basketball coach from 2004-08.

Renninger has also served as an assistant coach at the collegiate level for Lock Haven University, from 1997-99 as linebacker coach and running backs coach from 2011-2013.

Renninger will become the school’s third football coach in six years. Nines had succeeded Vinnie Kishbaugh who stepped down after the 2013 season, compiling a 3-year mark of 10-21.

Tonight’s board approval was part of a unanimous board action on a number of hires approved collectively; there was no comment from any board members.
