Clinton County Court Announces Amnesty Week

ccc-logoLOCK HAVEN — Clinton County President Judge Craig P. Miller and Judge Michael F. Salisbury have designated February 8 through February 12 as Amnesty Week for criminal defendants who are delinquent concerning fines, costs, fees and/or restitution and have a current bench warrant issued for their arrest and apprehension.

The local court in a release issued today said the county’s Adult Probation office has been extremely successful in obtaining full compliance in most cases and was recently ranked first of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties in the collection of fines and other monies owed by criminal defendants. However, more than $200,000 remains uncollected.

A list of the defendants along with their last known address and amounts owed to Clinton County Probation can be found on the Clinton County Website at clintoncountypa.com by clicking on the “WANTED” link on the front page. There are some 50 people from all across the country with their names posted. Judges Miller and Salisbury said during Amnesty Week any of these defendants may appear at Clinton County Adult Probation Office and either pay in full or enter into an acceptable payment schedule with the Manager of the Collections Unit of the Probation Department.

The court said immediately thereafter the bench warrant will be lifted, freeing the defendant from the worry of being apprehended pursuant to the warrant. It is the hope of the court and the probation department that these defendants will take advantage of this opportunity to avoid incarceration.

The court release said any citizens knowing the whereabouts of any of these defendants should encourage them to seek the offered amnesty. However, citizens may also call the Probation Office at 570-893-4051 and report their location. Adult Probation can then attempt to either resolve the matter with the defendant or apprehend and jail them.
