BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain’s Tyler Pavalko has received All-State honors from Pennsylvania Football News listed on the first team defensive roster. Pavalko is listed on the PFN All-Star roster at the position of “athlete,” a very appropriate moniker considering his diverse contributions.

The Senior Wildcat had a stellar season in 2013 amassing 1,986 all purpose yards including 168 rushing yards on 36 carries; 731 receiving yards on 35 catches; 982 yards on kick returns; 70 yards returning punts and 35 yards for interception returns. A performance that resulted in scoring 10 touchdowns on the season.

On the defensive side of the ball, Pavalko is credited with 41 solo tackles, eight passes defended and four interceptions.

Pavalko was the classic utilitarian high school football player. He rarely left the field, playing nearly every down the entire 2013 season with the exception of the Central Columbia game when he was injured. Fortunately, his absence from the field was a very short term.

Pavalko routinely made his presence known on any given play, while opponents scrutinized his status relentlessly. For to ignore his whereabouts was to their own peril.

While Pavalko received his All-State status for his overall defensive play … he was especially versatile on the offensive side of the ball.

Tyler could be anywhere in the formation; wide receiver, in the slot, tight end or even in the back field where he received direct snaps in the Wildcat formation. Pavalko is also credited with one pass attempt on the season.

The key was to get Pavalko the ball in open space and let him use his speed, agility, strength and tenacity to find the end zone. A task he took up effortlessly.

For his varsity career with Central Mountain, spanning three seasons, Pavalko contributed 3,374 all purpose yards – 182 on the ground, 1,488 receiving, 1,381 in kick returns, 183 returning punts and 140 for returning picks. Pavalko found the end zone 14 times for his varsity career. Tyler also stepped up to assist in the kicking duties as needed.

Pavalko has had several D1 schools express interest in his talents, though there has been no official word if he has made a choice as to where he would prefer to attend college.

Below, The Record-Online has offered a brief video highlight presentation of Pavalkos 2013 contributions to Wildcat football.
