Quakers Down Bucks; Coach Simon Returns Monday

MILLVILLE – Bucktail (1-2) ended the season’s start on the wrong side as Millville ran over the Bucks 63-26 Tuesday night at Millville. The Bucks were playing fine in the first quarter as Millville led 15-10 at the end. Bucktail Tristen Shelb had 6 points, while Ryan Prebble scored the other 4 points. Millville would change that very quickly as they came out with a man-to-man defense and would just shut the Bucktail offense right down.
Bucktail would not score in the second quarter as they only scored 16 points in the second half. Four key players to coach Dave Pentz’s offense this season were blanked. Even Shelb never scored another bucket. Prebble did lead the team with 11 points on this night. Coach Pentz pointed out that” we need to take care of the little things. That is take care of the ball (Turnovers 21), boxing out on rebounds 21 on this night. Help each other out on defense and most of all communicate with each other and know where the opponent is on the floor.”
The loss followed a 1-1 start at the Cowanesque Valley Tip-Off Tournament last weekend. Results saw: Oswayo Valley 49, Bucktail 32; and Bucktail 72, Northern Potter 49.
Bucktail will travel to Northern Potter this Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m.tip-off. Then on Monday Bucktail will welcome first year head coach Joe Simon of South Williamsport for a 6 p.m. start.
