Who’s the CM Football Coach? Who knows?

cm-footballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP—Keystone Central School District officialdom won’t comment on the status of Central Mountain head football coach Mike Nines so no one is sure at this point who, if anyone, is running the program.

Nines recently completed his second year as head coach, the Wildcats going 2-8 for a two-year mark of 3-17. He reportedly was asked to resign by the school district. Therecord-online has learned that Nines did submit a letter of resignation, did inform team members of his decision in November and subsequently withdrew the resignation before it could be acted on by the school board at its meeting last week.

It is understood that contractually fall sport coaches need to be notified by the end of the year if their position is renewed for the following year. There has been no word as to whether the district has moved to renew his contract. District policy is that when positions are opened, existing coaches may apply.

While the district has been tight-lipped about Nines’ status, several dozen Wildcat players, family members and coach Nine supporters attended last week’s school board meeting to voice support for Nines.

The board did not offer public comment at that meeting but did hold a 50 minute executive session on a “personnel matter” which therecord-online learned was about Nines’ status.
