bucks-basketballFARWELL – As Bucktail boys basketball coach Dave Pentz begins his eighth season at the Buck helm he will have a core of players that have had varsity experiences for the last two years.

They are seniors Josh Knauff, Derrick Long and Ryan Prebble, all of whom have been front line players the previous two seasons. Other returning letter winners who have seen a good amount of court time last season are seniors Trent Bixler, Tristan Schelb and junior Mike Casper. If coach Pentz can find a way for these boys to gel together and run the floor, it could be an exciting 2015-16 season for Bucktail basketball. But one thing for sure from a year ago is that these Bucks will have to reduce their turnovers.

Also returning from last season are junior JJ Michitsch and sophomore Aaron Lucas. The new players on the team this season are senior Vincent DiMattia, junior DeShawn Johnson, sophomore James Lund and freshmen Alex Intallura, Nathan James, Joey Long, Richard Perry, Dylan Strouse, Kenny Winkleman and David Lund.

Bucktail is coming off a 6-16 mark a year ago but finished with two straight wins and hopes to build on that late success and the experience gained last year for a successful 2015-16 season.

The Bucks will open up this Friday and Saturday at the Cowanesque Valley Tip-Off Tournament as they will play Oswayo Valley on Friday at 5 p.m. Then on Tuesday the Bucks will travel to Millville for a 6 p.m. tip-off.  After a trip to Northern Potter on Saturday, Dec. 12, Bucktail will return to Farwell for a home opener with South Williamsport on Monday, Dec. 14.
