2015 General Municipal Election Nears
Candidate Nights in the Offing
LOCK HAVEN — Voters will have not one, not two but three candidate nights to choose from as Clinton County’s November municipal election is now three weeks away, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The first of those will be this Thursday when the Lock Haven chapter of the American Association of University Women holds a “Meet the Candidates Night” at 7 p.m. at the Clinton County Courthouse. Candidates for county commissioner, district attorney sheriff and mayor will be responding to questions sent to them, according to the AAUW’s Toni Tomasi.
Questions may be submitted by audience members and will be read by moderator Lou Bernard. The AAUW said candidates for other local offices have been invited and will be recognized as the beginning of the event.
The local Christian Coalition will hold its annual event Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Big Woods Bible Church in Castanea. Chairman Patrick Robinson said the forum will be focusing on the race for Clinton County Commissioner.
Candidates have been asked by the Coalition to complete a several page questionnaire, the results of which, Robinson said, would be released to the Coalition membership and the media
The Lock Haven Express has also announced plans for two candidate nights, set for Oct. 27 and 28.
According to the most recent numbers from county voter registrar Maria Boileau, 20,498 voters will be eligible to vote in the Nov. 3 election. They include 8,931 Democrats; 8,810 Republicans; 126 Libertarian Party members; and 2,631 “others.”
