LOCK HAVEN – While employees from Wolyniec Construction continue improvements on Lock Haven’s Vesper to Grove Streets section of Water Street, the next round of sidewalk upgrades will be starting Thursday on the Water Street block from Grove to Jay Streets.

Mid-state contractor HRI Inc earlier this was the successful bidder for the Grove to Jay round of the East Water Street Streetscape Project. City Hall announced this week that phase two gets underway this Thursday starting with the removal of trees. Parking on both sides of Water Street will be prohibited. Work will involve new curbing, brick sidewalks, ornamental lighting and new trees.

The HRI contract has an August 27 – December 27 timeframe, while the upper leg on Water Street has an April 1 through July 8, 2016 timeframe.

These projects are the final of some 15 downtown blocks to have received the upgrades. The city last year had applied for state transportation funds to do two East Church Street blocks but was turned down.
