Community Picnic
NORTH BEND – There were reptiles and horses, hamburgers and there was music by Bud & The Dynamics, Drocton Hill Band and the 7th Street Christian Band. Smokey the Bear, Little Mermaid and Elsa were there too. It was Chapman Township’s second annual community picnic held Saturday, Aug. 1 in Keller and Darby Park behind the Chapman Fire Company. The celebration included dozens of tasty dishes prepared are township residents. And there were appearances by prominent guest visitors to the delight of children among us: Smokey the Bear, Little Mermaid, Elsa and Anna from Frozen and Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. Children and adults alike were fascinated by Patrick Rein who represented Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland. His show featured a turtle, a Great Horned Owl, a baby alligator and a huge boa constrictor.
