Arts Council Sets Harvest Days Celebration
LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven City Council Monday night approved the “Paint the Haven” 5k run/walk for levee use on September 13.
In conjunction with the Clinton County Arts Council, Dr. Julie Lammel and the LHU Recreation Management Department are holding the “Paint the Haven” event at the university campus as a fundraiser in support of the Arts Council and its annual Harvest Days Celebration.
According to Steve Getz, Board President for the Clinton County Arts Council, “The cross between the university and the Arts Council was done to promote more people to attend the festival.” Getz explained, “Tickets for the race will be 10 dollars, a lunch at the CCAC Heritage Festival, and a “Paint the Haven” t-shirt for participants registered by August 15th, 2015.”
The race will start at 9:00 a.m. and is set to end around 11:00 a.m. In addition to events going on at the festival at the Station Gallery on W. Bald Eagle St., activity stations will be set up around the cul de sac next to Thomas Field House to allow for easy vendor browsing during race hours.
According to Getz, “The majority of the proceeds will go towards the Art Council, however a portion of the money will be funneled back into continuing the 5k race for years to come.”
Getz said the run will start in the cul de sac on Lock Haven University’s campus, continue down the levee towards Piper Memorial Airport and come back. “The run won’t go anywhere near the Station Gallery, however we are hoping everyone from the race will come down to support the art festival.” Getz continued, “Awards will be handed out at the Station Gallery to the top three male and female finishers of the race. There will also be a pig roast, refreshments, a magic show, and many more activities that will preceed the race … at the Gallery.”
The “Paint the Haven” 5k run/walk and the Clinton County Arts Council’s Harvest Days Celebration will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015. With any questions regarding registration for the “Paint the Haven” 5k run/walk please contact jlammel@lhup.edu.
