Cardboard Boat Races Results

LOCKPORT — The seventh annual Lynne Ramm Memorial Cardboard Boat race went off without a hitch on Saturday and everybody who participated made it safely home if not to the finish line.

Event chairman Wally Watt said there were 16 entries in the Susquehanna River event which had been pushed back two weeks by high water.

Award winners included:


                Best Boat Design:                             L.H. YMCA  “Shark Boat”

                Best Boat Costume Theme:         Grimes Family “Happy Holi Daze”

                Best Sinker “Titanic Award”:        Holy Spirit Parish Youth Group “Mystery Machine”

1.       Children (8-12) 1-2 people                   Jordan Glover

2.       Children (8-12) 3 + people                    Woolrich Cub Scouts Pack #66   The Last Raft

3.       Youth (13-17) 1-2 people                      Ciera Strouse & Amy Watt   Fear the Duck

Watt handed out plenty of thank yous after the fun event:

The Woodward Twp. Rec. Board and the cardboard boat race committee for the help and support, the Citizens Hose Fire Co. and Water Rescue, Dunnstown Fire Co., Woodward Twp. Police Dept., Woodward Twp. Supervisors, Rich Best and Sunken Treasures Dive Team, The Record, Express, WBPZ & WSQV and all the sponsors for the event: Addies, Walkers Hardware, Suscon Plastics, Bryertech Roofing, S & S Plumbing, Haffley Ins, H.W. Raymond Const., Kliney’s Home Furnishing, Woodward Automotive, Brownies Signs, Competiton Audio, Partnership House B&D, Nittany Minit Mart.  He said without them it would not have been possible.
